Our Youth Stay Active in Many Ways
In April 2008, the youth
participated in the World Vision 30-Hour Famine. During the 25-hour lock-in, the youth prepared and served a pancake breakfast
to the guests of a local shelter for families...approximately 20 hours into their own fast! The youth also delivered many
bags of canned goods to the shelter that they had led the church body in gathering during the month prior to the Famine. In
addition, they raised approx. $200 for World Vision.
In July 2007, the youth participated in a mission
trip with TEAMeffort in Newport/Bybee, TN. While there, they assisted an elderly stroke victim with projects around her house.
Two wheelchair ramps were built, allowing her more ease in leaving her home. The carport and trim on the house were also scraped
and re-painted, as well as some general clean-up in the yard. The youth also found time to have some fun in Gatlinburg and
the Smoky Mountain National Park while there!
